Detailed FAQs About Double-Wall Composite Pipes

The Vohon double-wall system — EVOH-lined inner pipe, antistatic layer and monitored interstitial space for complete buried fuel protection.

A double-wall composite pipe has an inner pipe lined with EVOH resin for leak-proof performance, plus an outer wall with a monitored interstitial space in between. If the inner pipe ever leaks, the product is contained in the annulus and can be detected — providing secondary containment for buried fuel lines.
Three double-wall models: AY-01-65/54 (54 mm) in 50/30/20 m coils, AY-01-75/63 (63 mm) in 100/75/50/30/20/6.0/1.0 m, and AY-01-125/110 (110 mm) in 6.0 m sticks — covering runs from dispenser lines to main tank piping.
Manufactured from imported HDPE with an EVOH inner lining, the pipe is designed for long-term resistance to fuel permeation, corrosion and soil conditions — built for decades of buried service with proper installation and electrofusion connections.
The interstitial space between the two walls is the key: any product escaping the inner pipe migrates into the annulus, where it is detected by a monitoring system connected through the fittings. This gives continuous secondary containment protection that single-wall systems cannot offer.
The inner tube has a rated operating pressure of 1 MPa, and the nominal operating temperature range is -40°C to 50°C — suitable for fuel dispensing systems and buried outdoor installation in most climates.
The inner pipe includes an antistatic layer with surface resistance below 10⁶ Ω to dissipate static charge from fuel flow. The EVOH lining also acts as an effective permeation barrier for common gasoline blends, including ethanol-blended fuels.
Joined by electrofusion fittings — the fitting’s built-in heating element melts the mating surfaces into one homogenous, leak-tight joint. Our double-wall fittings are designed so no additional diameter-changing components are required. The full range covers couplings, 90°/45° elbows, tees, reducers, flange and threaded terminals, and antistatic plugs.
